Hey guys, sorry I haven't been very active for what seems like a couple of months. Work has been keeping me overly busy due to a large number of people quitting and since I've worked there the longest my shifts have become non ending. I also close every night so I'm dead tired when I get home and sleep has been coming to me a lot easier than in the past which is great, but also cuts into my late night art time. I swear I'm going to respond to all of your comments, favorites and anything else over the next couple of days. I love you all and don't want you to think I'm ignoring you or don't appreciate your support.
But back to the reason for this journal update. If you're not familiar with RAW artists, here's a link to their website about page. www.rawartists.org/about/what-… Check them out because they're one of the little, but getting quite bigger guys that help independent artists like many of us. They're not just tied to visual art however, as they support anything from make up artists to musicians to fire spinners and anything else considered "artistic".
They're main contribution to the art world is by throwing showcases for selected artists every 1 to 3 months. There are 47 individual RAW groups in different large cities. I submitted my work and profile to them a month ago and received a call a couple weeks ago from their coordinator congratulating me on being selected as one of their featured artists for the April show. Obviously I was stunned and accepted the offer so now I can proudly say I am a member of the Nashville RAW artists.
My show is April 26th and I will get my own 6' x 8' booth with room for side walls up to 5'. Everything you sell goes directly into your pocket and I will premiering several new pieces that I haven't even uploaded on here yet. As well as getting to be a part of the showcase, after party and the chance of making some money there will be gallery owners scouting for artists to add to their ranks. The last Nashville show had 4 people chosen by owners and I'm 1 of 11 visual artists this show so the odds are stacked in my favor, especially considering my style is a little different which is a total plus. I also get to attend and be a part of a showcase outside my state so I could go to Atlanta, Birmingham, St. Louis etc.
Of course I want to thank everyone of you who I've interacted with since I started here on DA. I don't think I would have gotten as far as I am today without your support and love so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! The only stipulation I have for this show is that for them to pay for the showcase every artist must sell 20 tickets to the show at $15 a piece. Whatever you don't sell of the $300 must be paid by you, but the plus side is it's totally possible to sell all of them and participate for free. I have a few friends and family members that are helping me, but my social life is nonexistent so I'm reaching out to you guys. You don't have to physically attend the show if you buy a ticket which means that if you just want to support me you can still purchase one as a donation of sorts. I know probably none of you will, though I hope you prove me wrong, but it would be a blessing if at least one of you could buy a ticket to help me out. This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me with my art and almost in life so it means the world to me. On top of that, if I do get chosen by a gallery owner, my career could skyrocket forward and I've been working long and hard to get somewhere. Anyways, thank you ahead of time if you do buy one.
